The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Monday issued a lookout notice against Arif Bhujwala — gangster Dawood Ibrahim aide and partner of controller Chinku Pathan. Notably, the drugs agency had just last week arrested Pathan. Airports across the country have received orders for a lookout to withhold Arif Bhujwala from fleeing out of the country.
The NCB had launched a manhunt to seize Arif Bhujwala a few days ago. Bhujwala ran a drug laboratory at a residential flat in Dongri locality of South Mumbai where he manufactured synthetic drugs like Mephedrone, Methamphetamine and Ephedrine. Last Wednesday, Arif Bhujwala succeeded to bolt from his 5th floor flat after getting the news of Chinku Pathan’s arrest. According to sources, Arif Bhujwala and Chinku Pathan are directly associated with the drug network handled by Dawood Ibrahim’s brother Anees.
Following the further probe, the NCB team raided the home of Arif Bhujwala at Noor Manzil Building in Dongri on Wednesday evening. The diaries recovered from Arif Bhujwala’s flat revealed that drugs worth Rs 80-90 lakh was being sold by them. NCB suspects that the gang could have links with anti-national elements and the drug money was laundered to middle-eastern and south-eastern countries. The NCB officials are also looking for other four key aides and associates of Chinku Pathan who are on the run. Sources that the agency is looking for pivotal aides of Chinku Pathan across Mumbai who has gone into hiding since Pathan’s arrest and raids on the lab run by his partner Arif Bhujwala.
NCB officials have also ordered a hunt to capture Sonu Pathan, one of the focal members of the cartel, who supplied the drugs and handled rival factions in Maharashtra. Another person on the run since Wednesday is Juned Nepali who handles the logistics and safe supply of drugs manufactured by Bhujwala. The 3rd suspect is Farhan Pathan, a cousin of Chinku Pathan. He is the frontman for the supply of drugs, overseas and various states across the country. The 4th suspect is Raju Sonawane from Pune, who handled Pathan’s Marijuana supply chain in Pune and other areas.
Officials had conducted raids at Hadapsar-based godown run by Raju Sonawane and other three places in Pune on Saturday. Sonawane, too, had fled by then. Officials have found some incriminating documents from Sonawane’s warehouse that have details of their clients and suppliers.
NCB had then on Friday arrested another member of the drug syndicate run by Chinku Pathan. Nasir Khar was arrested from Dongri where he was hiding while NCB teams conducted raids at three locations revealed by Pathan during interrogation. Sources from the anti-drug agency said during interrogation, Chinku Pathan had revealed details about his close aide and those involved in the supply of the drugs manufactured at Arif Bhuwala’s laboratory. Nasir Khan, a cousin of Chinku Pathan, is said to be one of the major suppliers of Mephedrone.
